I mean poop literally and figuratively… This week has not been a very good week for Austin. We thought that she was just teething, but her appetite had plummeted even more and then on Friday the diarrhea came. I spoke with the doctor’s office on Friday and they said a stomach bug is going around (they had been getting a lot of calls). They said if she is not drinking her formula to give her pedialyte to make sure she does not get dehydrated. They also said if her fever spikes or she becomes lethargic they would definitely want to see her. So Austin has not been the happiest camper, which is very understandable. I am hoping that she starts feeling better soon. We thought maybe last night she was starting to feel better because she drank a whole 6 ounce bottle before bed, however this morning the diarrhea had come back. On a side note you would think she would want to get more sleep because she does not feel well, however it has been the complete opposite. She has been up at 5am both Saturday and Sunday. She also has been staying awake for a 4 hours stretch during the day, when generally she is only up 2 to 2 ½ hours in between naps.

Happy Father's Day
Austin has been teething like crazy this week. She has been irritable and has not had much of an appetite. She has also been running a low grade fever here and there. I really hope something cuts through soon to give her relief, but I do not feel anything. Chewing on ice in her mesh feeder has given her some relief.
Austin has been really grabby with the spoon while we feed her lately. She can actually get the spoon in her mouth herself; however she must hit herself in the forehead first with the spoon and then guide the spoon down to her mouth. You can see from the pictures below, the line of food that is left when she does this. It is too cute and funny to watch. We introduced Austin to pineapple glaze ham this week and it was quite a hit. I think probably it is one of her favorites so far. Austin’s 9 month appt is in a few weeks and I am looking forward to talking to the pediatrician about introducing dairy into Austin’s diet and also other finger foods we can start her on.
Today was Luke’s first Father’s Day. Austin and I got him a coffee mug with her picture on it and we also got him tickets to the Cardinal vs. Colts football game in September. Luke loved both of his gifts. We did not do anything special today, but just had a nice relaxing day at the house.

8 months old...
Nothing really new to report this week besides Austin’s crawling. She is getting better every day and will now crawl towards anything she wants to get her hands on. She is especially fond of the camera and if we set it down in the playroom, she will make a beeline straight too it.
Now that Austin is more mobile than ever we purchased a larger play yard for the living room instead of just sticking her in the pack n play when we have to set her down. I am not too sure she likes her new “baby jail.” She was quite vocal about it yesterday when I set her in it while I was making dinner. I think part of it might be that she cannot see me while I am in the kitchen.
The weather has been really nice the last week or so, not even reaching 100 degrees. We went swimming yesterday and we (I) actually heated the pool for Austin and I. Luke thinks 80 degrees is fine, I like 90 degrees. Plus I do not want Austin to be cold while we are swimming. I got her the cutest bathing suit this week and you can see pictures of it below.

8 month Update
Austin is officially 8 months old as of yesterday. She had a pretty exciting day. I think she may have been showing off for us. First, we gave her chicken with apples for lunch and she ate it like a champ, then we “practiced” her crawling skills (see video below) and then she decided to pull herself up into a standing position. Even though she is not crawling yet she can get herself around pretty well. Yesterday she even showed us how she can roll/scoot over to the entertainment center and open the drawers in it and take things out. Because of all these events we are now on the fast track of baby proofing the rest of the house. The first time I said, “Wow, I did not know she could do that” is a clear indication that we are behind in our baby proofing. So, it’s off to Babies R Us today. We really should own stock in Babies R Us. We are there at least once a week.
Some other exciting news is we have decided to take a trip to San Diego this summer. Our friend’s Forrest and Jennifer have invited us out for their son Carter’s first birthday. We will be going the first weekend in August. The average temperature in August for Phoenix is 104 degrees; the average temperature in August for San Diego is 77 degrees. It will be so nice to get out of the heat. It will also be a nice treat for Austin to finally meet Carter and for her to go to her first birthday party. I guess we better decide now if we are going to let her eat cake or not. We hope to either get to the beach or maybe the zoo while we are there. I of course would love to go to Sea World, but I am thinking Austin is still too young for that, maybe next year.

8 months old and so close to crawling...
Austin is 8 month's old today. The below video is from Luke and I today trying to entice her to crawl with a magazine being the reward(she loves to shred them).
