BK#2 - 24 Weeks

How Far Along: 24 Weeks
Size of baby: About 8" long, the length of an ear of corn and weighs in at about 1-1/2lb.
Total Weight Gain/Loss: I'm around +10 pounds now. (I have been on an eating rampage!)

Maternity Clothes: My favorite thing to wear at the point is dresses. I have gotten several cute (work appropriate) dresses that I have been wearing. I usually wear capris on the weekends.

Gender: Girl - and she has a name! BK#2 is now Wesley Grace Kautzman.

Movement: Yes! I am not sure if I am just more aware the second time around, but she is definitely active in there. Her kicks are quite strong for this early.

Sleep: Fairly good, I am up 1-2 times a night. I am starting to have to get creative with pillows to try and get comfortable. I have a "snoogle" from last time and I cannot stand it this time around. I feel like its a boa constrictor trying to suffocate me.

What I miss: Being able to stay awake past 9pm. There have been several nights in the past couple weeks were I have fallen asleep around 8pm.

Cravings: Cookies. My new motto: "A cookie a day keeps the doctor away." Although this may have attributed to my 6 lb weight gain this month. I may need to rethink my new motto.
Symptoms: My feet and ankles have started to swell by the end of the day. It's not bad, but noticeable to me. I started taking my shoes off at work and trying to wear flip flops more.

Best moment this past month: Last Saturday before bed Wesley was doing her usually karate routine but they seemed stronger. I asked Luke if he wanted to feel and sure enough and soon as he put his hand on my belly she kicked him. It such a wonderful experience to share with your partner.

Our nursery furniture was delivered this past week and I LOVE IT! I am so happy with the choices that we made this time around. We went wth the same brand as Austin's (YoungAmerica) and the same build to grow crib. However, the style is different and the color is black sand-thru.
I have decided on Shabby Chic for a nursery theme and have spent the last week or so buying all sort of things for Wesley's nursery. I cannot wait until it all comes together. I will definitely post pictures of the completed nursery.

Mother's Day (3 weeks late)

So I keep telling myself you need to blog about Mother's day and another week goes by and I still have not blogged. I had such a wonderful Mother's Day weekend this year. On that Saturday we took Austin to a D-back's game. After she ate her hot dog and cotton candy (45 minutes into the game) she decided she was ready to go. Luckily we convinced her there was much more to baseball then eating and we got her to sit through the game until the 7th inning stretch. On Sunday, Luke and Austin were nice enough to let me sleep in and when I woke up Luke made me the most delicious breakfast burrito. I had told Luke that on Mother's Day I did not want to cook, clean or entertain and I really just wanted to veg out at the house. This is exactly what we did and it was wonderful. That evening Luke even made dinner!

Oh I almost forgot about my Mother's Day gift. Luke and Austin got me 2 massages at a local maternity spa. I had gone to this spa when I was pregnant with Austin and had the most wonderful massage. I was so psyched that this time I would be able to go not once but twice. I actually went already and had 1 of the massages and it was just as good as I remember. I told the massage therapist my only complaint was that it went by way too fast. I am very excited that in a few weeks I get to go back!

We have been keeping pretty busy on the weekends. Austin is still enjoying gymnastics on Saturdays and we will continue to go throughout the summer. In the fall however we plan on signing her up for competitive soccer. Beside gymnastics we have had a steady stream of birthday parties to go to. I think we are averaging a birthday party every other weekend. Austin and my Mom have also started going to a summer movie series at one of the local movie theaters. Every week they play a newer cartoon movie for 10 weeks. The tickets were only $7 each for the entire series which makes it a very inexpensive activity for them to do. Now we just have to convince Austin she doesn't need popcorn from the snack bar every time they go.

Austin is still continuing to go to preschool two days a week throughout the summer. This summer on Tuesdays is water day and today was the first one. Austin told me her favorite part of her day was running through the sprinklers. In August when the official new school year starts Austin will be switching classrooms to Preschool 2 and also she will start going 3 days a week. We recently had Austin's end of the year parent teacher conference and Austin had a wonderful school year. Her teacher said she has matured and gained confidence this year. She likes socializing with her friends and she uses her words very well when problem-solving in class. They did say she still needs to work and focusing on her listening skills though (I could have told them that).

Speaking of water day, I had started looking for private swim lessons for Austin. Last year we tried semi-private group lessons that failed miserably and Luke and Austin stopped going after 2 or 3 times because Austin was so scared. I am thinking that maybe we can have someone come to my Mom's house and do the lessons in her pool and that Austin would feel more comfortable. She loves the water and the pool and is generally not scared at all to go into the pool. She even went into our friend's Trisha and Adam's pool over the Memorial Day weekend when the temp of the water was only 65. She was shivering the entire time but refused to get out.
