The first picture is actually from January. Cousin Michael and Cousin Payton had a joint birthday party this year. We tried to get a picture of the cousins (Wesley is missing) and this is the best we could do. I also said on my January update that Wesley had an upcoming doctor's appointment for her 4 month well baby check. She weighed in at 15lbs 13.5oz (68th percentile) and the nurse measured her at 26.5 inches (99th percentile). When the doctor came in and saw her length he said there is no way and remeasured her himself and got 25.5 inches long. For those of you keeping score, Wesley had now surpassed Austin in both weight and height at this point. Austin was 15.8lbs and 25 inches at her 4 month check up. The doctor also gave us the go ahead to start solids, but we decided since she was getting vaccines to put it off a week.
You can see by the pictures below that Wesley was not really feeling the oatmeal the first time we feed it to her. A few days later we tried rice cereal and got the same reaction. We finally decided to skip the grains and just jump right into to pizza...I mean fruits and vegetables. She is a 2nd child would pizza have been that far off? So far we have given her sweet potatoes (likes), pears (really likes) and peas (HATES). Its such a fun experience to see her facial expressions the very first time she tastes something new.
Wesley has turned into to such a good, chill baby. She had also started sleeping through the night with little to no sleep training. Luke and I are still doing the every other night thing, but now its more like every other morning.
On the Austin front we have some very excited news...Austin will be starting Kindergarten in the fall! The cutoff for Austin's Montessori school is Nov 1st. We spoke with her teacher and she said she thought Austin was more than ready. I am not going to lie, the day I turned in her registration packet I got a little emotional on the drive home. I am going to be a mess her first day. Here is to the class of 2026! Austin has also started going to preschool 4 days a week. This gives her more time at school (which she loves) and my Mom only has to watch Wesley.
We have been debating lately on what activity to sign Austin up for. She is really pushing to get back into gymnastics. After school on Wednesdays she does take a drawing class, but I am not sure that is going to hold her over much longer. They were offering Karate after school one day a week, but Luke and I decided we did not want to give her any tools she could use against us.
The Kautzman's have been fighting the colds the pass 2 weeks. First Austin was sick, then better, then Luke got sick, Austin got it again and now Wesley. I have for some reason (even with traveling for work) been able to stay it off. Knock on wood.
