Nite-Nite

This week has been great week as far as development for Austin. She is finally starting to wave bye more regularly and she has been talking up a storm, mostly babbling but you we can start to really hear words she is saying. Right now she is saying “Dad-ee” “MaMa” and “Nite-Nite.” I am pretty sure she knows that Luke is Daddy, but every once in a while she calls me “Dad-ee” and I tell her no I am “MaMa” and she just looks at me funny. Her saying “Nite-Nite” is the cutest thing ever.

On Friday night Luke and I were able to enjoy some adult time and go to the Diamondback’s game with our friend Neil and his girlfriend Tess. We left before Austin’s bedtime (my Mom babysat) which is always hard for me. Austin is almost 11 month old and I can still count on one hand how many times I have not been here to put her to bed. We ended having a wonderful time at the game.

Here are just a couple pictures from this week; both camera batteries were dead for most of the week so we did not take a lot of pictures. Yesterday afternoon Austin decided she did not want to wear any clothes but a diaper. I took these to show that absolutely nothing is safe in our house. Unless it bolted down she will figure out a way to get it.

10 Months Old Update

This week Austin has been spending a lot of time looking out the windows in her play room. School is back in session and in the mornings she loves to look at all the kids walking to school. I personal think she is dreaming of the day where she can play outside…

Austin has cut another tooth this week, now we are up to 6 teeth total. They are coming fast now. I looked this morning and it looks like there is another one on the top that is getting ready to cut. I love her teethy grin.

Yesterday Luke helped his brother move into a new house that is only about 10 minutes away from us. It will be nice to have them so close. Plus Mark’s wife April is pregnant and due in January. Austin and I went over to the new house around lunch time to say hi to everyone and check it out. We could not stay too long because I had a baby shower yesterday to go to. I did not bring Austin though because it was right in the middle of her afternoon nap time. Today we are just hanging at the house and we have a friend coming over to visit with Austin, other than that it should be just a lazy day.

10 Months Old and Counting...

We are all finally over our illnesses and everyone seems to be back to normal. I started planning Austin 1st birthday party (I cannot believe my baby is going to be 1) and we have decided to have a small family party. We are going to do a Hawaiian Luau theme. I bought Austin the cutest 1st birthday outfit and I cannot wait to have her professional pictures taken in it. We have also decided to have family photos taken by the same photographer that has done all of Austin’s photos. Also, this weekend my Uncle’s Jack and Ron are in town so my parents had a BBQ today. It was nice to see everyone and sit and chat for a while (plus eat awesome BBQ ribs).

10 months old…and sick

This week Austin turned 10 months on Thursday and also had her first visit to the doctor for illness. Yes that is right, 10 months old and we have only seen the doctor for well baby visits. The week started off with Luke sick on Tuesday, Austin sick on Wednesday and me sick by Thursday. On Wednesday Austin was running a fever of 101.4 and my Mom gave her some Motrin and it came down. By Thursday morning Austin’s temp was 102 degrees and I had placed a call in with the doctor. I stayed home with Austin on Thursday. The doctor said she just has a cold and her ears looked clear. She said that if she still spiking a fever on Saturday to come in and have her ears checked out again. Luckily she has not had a fever since Thursday and is almost back to her old self. Because Austin’s nose was so stuffy/runny she was not sleeping well. After one of her naps on Thursday she crawled up on me and fell back asleep. This was quite a treat. Austin has not slept on me in such a long time. Luke happened to come home from work and catch a great picture of us. As you can see it was a pajama week for Austin. Yesterday was the first day she actually got dressed.

I almost forgot, Austin also cut another tooth this week. She nows had 5 teeth, two on the top and three on the bottom.

San Diego Part 2 – The Zoo

On Sunday we decided that we would all go to the zoo. Again I was apprehensive on how Austin would do. Why I worry is beyond me. We all had such a fun time. The San Diego zoo is quite a work out with all the hills they have. It was on the warmer side, but not AZ hot. We made sure Austin had her sippy cup of water and plenty of sunscreen on. I am not really sure if she liked the zoo because it was the “zoo” or because she was outside in the fresh air riding around in her stroller looking at all the people.

Monday it was time to go home. Now, Austin had been such a good baby all weekend long…but she is not perfect. The first couple of hours of the trip back went smoothly, but the last 2 hours were pure meltdown. Even with me sitting in the back seat trying to amuse her she was just not happy. I really think she was just done being in the car. Thankfully we made really good time on the way back and Austin is now back to her old self.

This trip really taught us that Austin can almost adapt to any situation. We a wonderful time with the Villa Family and are so grateful they let us stay with them. We really hope we can make this an annual trip. Next year we are already planning to go to Sea World.

San Diego Part 1

We just got back from our wonderful first family trip to San Diego. Our main reason for going out to San Diego was to go to Carter Villa’s first birthday party. Forrest and Jennifer were so kind in inviting us to stay with them during our trip. Letting us stay with them made this trip so much easier on us. We started out on Friday morning around the time Austin usually goes down for her nap. I am not going to lie; I have been so stressed out on how Austin was going to handle the car ride, the sleep arrangements and just the change in general. Can I just say we have the best baby in the entire universe. This kid does not skip a beat no matter what you throw her way. She did only take one nap on the way to San Diego, but did not get fussy at all. I thought for sure once we got there she would be cranky. Nope, she happily played with Carter until it was bedtime. I was most stressed about bedtime and her falling asleep in the pack and play. Yet again, she fell right asleep and slept her normal 11 hours.

On Saturday was Carter’s baseball themed first birthday party. Austin was quite a vocal baby at the party which is very unlike her. She seemed so excited to be around all the people and kids. The clubhouse that Forrest and Jennifer rented out was right near their house, so once Austin got tired we were able to run her home for a nap and then come back after and enjoy more of the party.
